Upcoming Zombie Films for 2012/13

The 4th Reich (2013, UK)
June 1944, after the glorious victory on D-day, the armies of the combined allied forces begin their long push to Berlin with the aim of bringing down Hitler and the despised Nazi regime of the Third Reich.
But buried deep in secret files German Reichstag, is the chilling reality of Hitler’s plan to create an eternal living hell, The 4th Reich.

Dr. Joseph Mengele, Hitler’s chief scientist, was charged with creating a new super army of invincible soldiers, a force that could never be beaten. His experiments and research at the death camps of Auschwitz, Belsen and Birkenau would create unspeakable evil.

A small brigade of soldiers from 3rd Infantry Division, under the command of the battle hardened Captain Bathurst, embark on an ever darkening quest to liberate Europe. Fighting their way through the French countryside, villages and war ravaged towns. 13 Eerie (2013, Canada)
Six ambitious forensic undergrads are pitted against one another on a scientific expedition to a remote island, vying to win an esteemed trainee position with the FBI. Unbeknownst to everyone, the site was formally used as an illegal biological testing ground for life-term criminals who were left for dead. Behind the mission is Professor Tomkins, who together with FBI agent Veneziano have devised a series of experiments to test the would-be agents to their limits. Three mutilated cadavers taken from the medical labs have been planted around the island in a reconstructive test which the undergrads will be assigned tasks in order to discover what may have caused the fatal injuries. Stars: Katharine Isabelle, Michael Shanks, Brendan Fehr, Brendan Fletcher and Nicholas Moran.

A Little Bit Zombie (2012, Canada)
Infected by a virus, a mild mannered HR manager attempts to fulfill his overwhelming desire for brains, all while trying to keep it together so as not to incur the wrath of his bridezilla-to-be. The Canadian produced comedy stars Stephen McHattie, Kristopher Turner and Crystal Lowe. (Reviewed on the ZT Member Blog on December 18).

A Zombie Invasion (Dec. 2012 DVD release, USA)
The inhabitants of a small town and it’s very popular diner have to fend off a nasty infestation of hungry zombies. Stars: Robert Pralgo, Ted Huckabee and Stephen Cauldill.

Another World (2012, Israel)
The movie is a post-apocalyptic horror/science fiction film. the setting is in a near post apocalyptic future where a biological warfare program goes wrong, and turns most of humanity to mindless, murderous creatures. Stars: Zach Cohen, Susanne Gschwendtner and Davina Kevelson.

Archaic Redemption (2012, USA)
A young man must brave an undead gang in the efforts to find his sister in the post apocalyptic world of Lost Angels. Stars: Brina Palencia, Cherami Leigh, Tim Taylor and Brooke Lewis.

Army of the Dead (2013, USA)
The Zack Snyder (Watchman) produced project will now be directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. (The Thing, 2011) and is one of the most anticipated and horrifying zombie projects in recent years. This film will push the envelope, as it was recently revealed by Matthijis that the male zombies will rape human females and will produce human hybrid zombie offspring. The film is set in a zombie-infested Las Vegas, where the government has erected a quarantine wall around the city to contain the outbreak. The story is centered on a father who is trying to free his daughter from quarantined Las Vegas. Whether this finally starts shooting this year is uncertain, since it has been in development for four years.

Automaton Transfusion 2 (2012, USA)
Sequel to the poorly received 2006 UK film, Automaton Transfusion.

El Brazo Grande vs. the Living Dead (2013, USA)
El Brazo and Chango have to rescue a Generals Daughter during a mass zombie invasion in exchange for their freedom.

Cockneys vs Zombies (2012, UK)
A comedy about a gang of bank robbers who fight their way out of a zombie-infested London. Stars: Michelle Ryan, Honor Blackman and Georgia King.

Condition Dead (2012, USA)
Luther Judge and his team of specialists are the government’s response whenever the dead rise from the grave. But a new assignment finds them contending with a mysterious and lethal zombie menace…and Judge’s ex-wife.

The Curse of the Buxom Strumpet (2012, UK)
Upper Trollop, 1713. An illness takes hold of the villagers turning them into unfeeling creatures who eat anything they can get there hands on. Lord Fortitude must lead the small band of survivors and escape to France. Stars: Ian McKellen, Gillian Anderson and Mark Williams.

Dave of the Dead (2013, USA)
The Zombie Apocalypse wasn’t much of an apocalypse. Zombies are living among us as second class citizens, and “Undead Rights” activists are taking to the streets in protest against Zombie bigotry. Dave doesn’t give a fig about Zombies, but if saving them from society means getting the girl of his dreams, then the Zombies just got themselves a Hero! Stars: Terry Alexander and Shaun O’Sullivan.

Deadlands III: The New World (2012, USA)
10 Months after the dead have come back to life three groups struggle to survive in the zombie-infested wasteland. Stars: Chris Clanton, Daniel Ross and Micaiah Jones.

The Dead Inside (2012, UK)
A group of soldiers, civilians and teenagers hole up in a local school for protection from the undead hordes outside. Everything goes from bad to worse when a stranger arrives. This British indie feature stars Luke Hobson, Nicky Barton, Samuel Hogarth and Roger Fowler.

Dead Season (2012, USA)
It has been over one year since the start of the outbreak. Our society has collapsed and the world has descended into chaos. Elvis and Tweeter are two of the last people left alive, and band together to flee the United States for a remote island somewhere in the Caribbean. On the island, they find a new community struggling to hold out against an army of corpses. They can join this band of survivors– but only if they can do what must be done for the good of the group. Stars: James C. Burns, Scott Peat and Marissa Merrill.

Deadworld (2013, USA)
Based on the comic book series, Deadworld veers from the popular zombie mythology of depicting an apocalypse in which flesh-eating corpses overrun humans. Deadworld picks up four months after that event, where the Dead overtake the Earth, with humans few and far between. Protag is King Zombie, a Harley-riding corpse who holds a grudge against the survivors who made him an outcast.

Detention of the Dead (2012, USA)
Comedy and Horror unite in this “The Breakfast Club” meets “Shaun of the Dead” tale about a group of oddball high school students who find themselves trapped in detention with their classmates having turned into a horde of Zombies. Can they put their differences aside and work together to survive the night? Fat chance! This is High School after all. Stars: Jacob Zachar, Alexa Nikolas and Christa B. Allen.

Escape of the Living Dead (2013, USA)
Co-screenwriter of the classic film Night of the Living Dead, John A. Russo brings his comic book series to the big screen with Gunnar Hansen, Helena Ball and Evan Cooper.

The Gatekeeper (2013, USA)
An aging cemetery worker helps a young man overcome his insecurities by killing the dead. Stars: Ron Perlman, Lea Thompson, Jana Kramer, Matt O’Leary.

I Survived A Zombie Apocalypse (2012, New Zealand)
The much anticipated zombie comedy written and directed by the up and coming New Zealand short film writer/director finally gets a release. Wesley (Harley Neville), a young runner on a zombie film set, has the first day from hell when real zombies overrun the film set…Who are the real zombies and who are the extras? Decapitate with care! Stars: Mike Edward, Ben Baker and Jocelyn Christian.

Infected (October 2012, USA)
A blood virus infects a small group of hunters turning a father & son trip into a fight for survival. Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill), William Forsythe (The Devil’s Rejects), and Christy Carlson Romano (Mirrors 2) all have something in common; they are trying to keep their distance from the Infected, a breed of non-generic zombies born from a parasitic “tick” virus. One of the rustic hamlet’s populace, formerly a gorgeous, vivacious redhead, has eroded into “a crazy zombie bitch,” played by Lily Haze.

Invasion of the Not Quiet Dead (2012, UK)
In 1978 a meteorite crash-lands into the Swiss Mountains, unleashing a deadly virus. Killing everyone within a 20-mile radius, the incident was covered up by local officials. Now thirty years later the virus is released onto an unsuspecting island off the coast of England. A group of survivors must band together in order to survive the death and destruction of the once friendly locals in this black comedy horror. Stars: Kim Sønderholm, Ken Russell and Ajay Nayyar.

Juan of the Dead aka Juan De los Muertos (2012, Cuba)
50 years after Cuban Revolution, a new revolution is about to begin—a zombie uprising. Mistakenly taken as dissidents paid by the US, they are soon meet with Juan and his posse who have declared themselves zombie killers for hire. Havana has never been so bloody or funny in this zombedy starring Alexis Díaz de Villegas, Jorge Molina and Andrea Duro. (Reviewed in Issue 5).

Kill Zombie! aka Zombibi (2012, Netherlands)
The bizarre story takes place in Amsterdam-West, where a virus turns people into bloodthirsty zombies. Although much blood is flowing and many limbs chopped off, there is a lot to laugh at in this bizarre horror comedy. Stars: Uriah Arnhem, Wouter Braaf and Noel Deelen.

Night of the Living Dead: Resurrection (2012, UK)
In 2012, the deceased have risen from their graves with only one instinct-to feed on the living. As academics speculate on the scientific cause of the phenomena, theologians point to the Armageddon foretold in the Book of Revelation. As the cities are over run and civilization crumbles, a family takes refuge from the undead army in an isolated farmhouse in West Wales. But the greatest threat is already among them. Stars: Richard Goss, Sabrina Dickens and Jonathon Farrell.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2013, USA)
Jane Austin’s classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England is faced with a new challenge — an army of undead zombies. A classical tale re-imagined by best-selling author Seth Grahame-Smith.

R.I.P.D. (2013, USA)
A recently slain cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him. Stars: Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Bacon and Jeff Bridges.

[REC]3 Génesis (2012, limited US release, Spain)
Paco Plaza directs this installment of the popular series with the action now taking place miles away from the original location and partly in broad daylight, giving the film an entirely fresh yet disturbing new reality. Stars: Leticia Dolera, Javier Botet and Diego Martín.

[REC]4 Apocalypse (2013, Spain)
The final film in the series will be directed by Balaguero and will end the [REC] saga with the pandemic spreading to unknown proportions. Paco Plaza will assist on the project, which is expected to be released in the Fall of 2012.

War of the Dead (2012, Finland/USA/Italy)
A attack force of Finnish and American soldiers are on a search and destroy mission for a Russian bunker, but find themselves being pursued deeper into a Russian forest by Nazi zombies. Starring Andrew Tiernan, Mikko Leppilampi and Samuel Vauramo.

World War Z (June 2013, USA)
Based on the Max Brooks novel. A U.N. employee is racing against time and fate, as he travels the world trying to stop the outbreak of a deadly Zombie pandemic. Stars: Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos and David Morse.

Warm Bodies (Feb. 2013, USA)
After a zombie becomes involved with the girlfriend of one of his victims, their romance sets in motion a sequence of events that might transform the entire lifeless world. Stars: Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer and John Malkovich.

Wrath of the Dead (August 2013, Yugoslavia)
Based on the story by Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead, The Devil’s Rejects) and produced by Uwe Boll (Eaters, Zombie Massacre, BloodRayne)

In an old prison somewhere in a small North American town lies a deadly secret about the walking dead, and the only one who can stop the upcoming zombie apocalypse is a renegade ex-CIA agent, Mortimer Reyes, wanted by the government as enemy of the state.

Zombie eXs (2012, USA)
Meet Zach. Nice guy. Terrible taste in women. They leave him, but they never forget him. He’s heading into the next bad break-up when the newest fad in H2O drinks starts turning his ex girlfriends into zombies who have one idea – getting back together with Zach! Three friends must stop the Ex’s and save the world. Stars: Alex Hammel-Shaver, Madison Hart and Scott Keebler.
Zombie Hamlet (2012, USA)

Desperate filmmaker Osric Taylor dreams of making his civil war Hamlet but when production funding dries up, he agrees to take southern matron Hester Beauchamps offer to fund the film if he throws some zombies in it to make their money back. But when Hester dies in mid-shoot, Osric dresses up as Hester to cash the last check and awakens the suspicions of both the local police and ambitious local news reporter Shine Reynolds. Inspired by an actual incident. Stars: Travis Wester, Danny Glover, June Lockhart and John De Lancie.

Zombiefied (2012, USA)
Best friends Tommy and Angel have kept a deadly secret that has tormented them for 13 years. At a major concert for two popular bands, the fans inside the club strangely become enraged zombies. An outbreak occurs, leaving lead singer Alana running for her life and getting separated from her bandmates. Now Tommy and Angel must re-live their worst fears as their nightmares become reality as the zombie outbreak spreads. During Alana’s escape, she is attacked by a twisted serial killer who knows the secret and the bodies are adding up. Stars: Robecca Torrellas, Mike Gebbie and Tayvis Dunnahoe.

Zombieland 2 (2013, USA)
The much-anticipated sequel to the 2009 comedy hit Zombieland that starred Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin. It is reported all principal actors will return.

Zombie Blondes (2013, USA)
From the moment Hannah arrived in town, she felt there was something wrong. A lot of houses were for sale, and the town seemed infected by an unearthly quiet. And then, on Hannah’s first day of classes, she ran into a group of cheerleaders-the most popular girls in school. The odd thing was that they were nearly identical in appearance: blonde, beautiful, and deathly pale. But Hannah wants desperately to fit in-regardless of what her friend Lukas is telling her: If she doesn’t watch her back, she’s going to be blonde and popular… and dead?

Zombie Massacre (2013, Italy)
Producer/Director Uwe Boll (House of the Dead, In the Name of the King, BloodRayne) and the team that brought us Eaters, will unleash a new zombie menace sometime in 2013 with a screenplay written by Eaters writer Marco Ristori.

A bacteriological weapon – developed by the US Government to create a super soldier – spreads an epidemic in a quiet little town in the middle od Eastern Europe. All citizens have been turned into infected zombies. The plan is: to bring an atomic bomb into the nuclear plant of the city to pretend a terrible accident. No one has to know the truth. A commando of mercenaries is hired to do the mission. The battle is on. Hordes of monsters against a bunch of men. Stars: Tara Cardinal, Jon Campling, Christian Boeving and Gerry Shanahan.

Zon 261 (2012, Sweden)
A town in south of Sweden is isolated after a zombie outbreak. The Swedes still inside must band together to survive the onslaught. Stars: Dragomir Mrsic, Johan Widerberg and Per Ragnar.
